The Secret World of LEGO is More Than Just Toys!

For most people, LEGOs are a childhood toy. But for others, LEGOs are a serious business. These builders, who call themselves AFOLs (Adult Fans of LEGO), spend hours and hours creating intricate models out of the colorful bricks. While LEGOs may seem like a simple toy, the AFOL community has created an entire subculture around it.

The LEGO company is more than just a producer of colorful plastic bricks that can be assembled into any number of objects. The company has a long and rich history, dating back to 1932 when Ole Kirk Christiansen started making wooden toys in his carpentry workshop.

It was only after World War II, when plastics became widely available, that LEGO began producing the interlocking blocks that are now so popular.
