The Forgotten History of America’s First Nations
The Northwest Coast is littered with the ancient villages and tribes of America’s first nations. For centuries, they lived in relative peace, trading amongst themselves and with the burgeoning white settlements to the south. However, one tribe, the Haida, lived in constant fear of attack from their island strongholds.
They would routinely raid other villages for slaves and wealth. The Haida were a fierce people and were not to be taken lightly. Despite their fearsome reputation, the Haida were ultimately no match for the combined forces of the other tribes who banded together to drive them from their lands. The story of America’s first nations is one of enduring courage and strength in the face of adversity.
