Destination MARS – From The Moon To The Red Planet

In 1969, the United States sent a spacecraft called Apollo 11 to land on the moon. The mission was a success, and humans had walked on the moon for the first time.

After this, many people believed that we should continue exploring space and go to Mars. In 2001, a spacecraft called Mars Odyssey was sent to orbit around Mars. Since then, there have been many other missions to Mars, including rovers that have explored the planet’s surface.

After a decade of planning and development, humanity’s first crewed mission to Mars is finally underway. A five-person team of astronauts launched from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida at 9:00 am EST on July 30th, 2020 aboard an Atlas V rocket.

The spacecraft will travel for six months, reaching Mars orbit in January 2021. There they will spend two months conducting a series of scientific experiments before returning home.

This moment has been a long time coming. For over 50 years, we’ve been sending robotic probes to explore the Red Planet, and now it’s time to take the next step and send humans there as well. The challenges of manned spaceflight are significant, but we’re confident that we can overcome them.
